The Friends of Walden Pond, together with the MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation, invite you to join local historians and Walden Pond staff for this annual program to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr., and the legacy of Thoreau’s essay “Civil Disobedience” at the Visitors Center. A short scene from the 1971 play “The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail” will be presented, along with a panel discussion with Thoreau scholar Tom Blanding, Rob Munro of the Robbins House and Richard Smith, historian and Thoreau re-enactor.
